URRENO’s Road Safety Advocacy Yields Results
Following last year’s Mobility Snapshot along the Kampala that presented some road infrastructural like no pedestrian crossing, no traffic calming measure, no traffic, the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and the ministry of works and Transport reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing street safety across the city. Key pledges included repainting all zebra crossings and speed humps, as well as removing unauthorized humps to improve road safety and pedestrian accessibility.

Recent observations on the Kampala Road reveal progress in these efforts. KCCA has made notable improvements to traffic lights and pedestrian crossings, enhancing visibility and safety for road users. These updates reflect KCCA’s and the government’s ongoing dedication to creating a safer, more navigable built-up environment in Kampala and beyond.

Through persistent advocacy and collaboration with key stakeholders, URRENO is witnessing the impact of its commitment to enhancing road safety across the country. These efforts are significantly strengthened by the support of the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety, whose partnership has been instrumental in driving progress.
URRENO’s initiatives are fostering safer roads and saving lives, reflecting the power of collective action in creating a safer, more sustainable future for all road users in Uganda.
